Switchboard Modification
United Switchboards Service has a proven track record of performing complex switchboard replacement and modification works.
Through its extensive engineering knowledge, manufacturing competence, and in-depth understanding of switchboard design and construction, United Switchboards has developed unique solutions in collaboration with experienced electrical contractors or with clients directly.
Our service team have extensive knowledge in every aspect of low voltage switchboard works, and they are experts at planning and coordinating crucial shutdown works within strict time constraints and with minimal impact on the process or client operations.
Typical modification works include:
- Installing new switchgear equipment
- Retro fitting new ACBs, and MCCBs into existing switchboards
- Installation of new ATS assemblies
- Installation of new switchboard sections or extensions
- Installation of multi-function metering of energy management systems
In most cases, obsolete switchgear can be found in switchboards that have been in use for more than a decade. Existing switchboards that are properly maintained can often provide reliable operation, but at a higher risk in terms of potential equipment failure and the downtime rectification works that occur.
Older switchboards often require more time and money to rectify due to a lack of readily available interchangeable parts. Manufacturing new transition busbars, cleats, other metalwork adjustments can be time-consuming and disrupt building operations when retrofitting modern switchgear into older switchboards.
In order to improve the dependability and serviceability of their switchboard infrastructure, many clients choose to undergo a renewal process in which important operating switchgear is replaced in a planned and coordinated manner. This method is typically less expensive than switching out the complete switchboard and reduces the likelihood of requiring to replace blown-out switchgear or, even worse, the entire switchboard.
